Product Review: Too Faced Christmas in New York

Recently I’ve acquired the Grande Hotel Cafe, Merry Macarons, and Chocolate Shop palettes from the Too Faced Christmas in New York Collection and I figures I’d share my thoughts on them.

All of these palettes have nice pigmentation, great scents, and a good mix of colors and shimmers + mattes.

The Grande Hotel Cafe(GHC) set has the cutest packaging out of the three IMHO. It’s a cute little box that’s easy to open and grab the palettes out. The Chocolate Shop is my least favorite; it comes in a similarly designed box to the Merry Macarons, but much larger and its harder to grab the palette out of the box. I actually got a cut trying to get the palette out cause it got caught on the edge of the box.

I love the size of the palettes in the GHC. They’re small, so they’d be easy to fit if you don’t have a lot of space and easy to take on the go. Inside you get 3 palettes with different scents: Eggnog Latte, Gingerbread Cookie, & Peppermint Mocha. They all have 6 small pans and 1 large pan inside with a mix of shimmers and mattes. Gingerbread Cookie is my favorite out of the 3, the glitter Gingersnap and Winter Dream shades are to die for. It’s possible to do a whole eye look just using the contents of one palette (I did it with all three of them as soon as I got them) but having some other neutrals to use for a transition shade and blending would really expand the amount of looks you could do with these palettes

The Merry Macarons palette has a good mix of the necessary neutrals plus some fun shimmers to add a pop. It’s pretty simple, but great for those whole like neutrals. I think this would make a great starter palette for either you to get yourself or to gift someone who’s looking to get into makeup. This palette also come with one of my favorite mascaras, the Better Than Sex.

I also made a YouTube video, my first video, using this palette.

The Chocolate Shop has the most shadows of all three. There’s a good mix of mattes and shimmers. There’s a nice blue and a purple shade that would be great for pops of color, plus a lovely silver and gold that would make for a nice lid color or inner corner highlight too. There’s also a highlight, blush, and contour included in the palette too. Inside the box, aside from the palette, there’s a Better Than Sex mascara, Shadow Insurance eye primer, and a Melted Chocolate lipstick in shade Chocolate Milkshake. Both the lipstick and palette have a nice chocolate scent. If you own any of the other Too Faced Chocolate palettes, then you know the smell I’m talking about.

I also made a YouTube video talking about and using this set.

All of these palettes are nice, but if you only want to get one it really depends what you’re looking for. The GHC or Merry Macarons both would be great for using as a Christmas gift, especially the GHC since it has three separate palettes.

The GHC would be the best if you want palettes that would be easy to bring on-the-go. There’s a mix of pinks, golden shimmers, and browns in this set.

The Merry Macarons is good for just starting out or neutral lovers. You get a mix of purple tones, browns, and some nice shimmers. You get a mascara too with this one.

The Chocolate Shop offers the most of all three. You get 18 small pans & 3 big pans for eye shadow along with a highlight, bronzer, and blush. There’s good mix of brown tones plus some fun shimmers for pops of color. A mascara, eye primer, and lipstick are included in this set.

So, what do think about these palettes if you own any of them? Or which palette(s) would you want to get?

Thanks for reading!

xoxo, Syd♥
