Syd’s Current Skincare Routine: Korean Beauty

dsc_0104

Hey guys!

Since the start of August, I’ve been using a Korean Skincare routine, that really seems to be working for me. With double cleansing (1st an oil cleanser to remove makeup, then a foaming cleanser to remove the oil cleanser) my face feels really clean, refreshed, not tight and dry. Korean skincare routines have a lot of steps, though every step is not necessary for every person or morning and night. You do what feel right for and what feels good for your skin. I use a lot of light layers for moisturizing, but use as many as you like. Weekly sheet masks are amazing for moisturizing and relaxation.

Most of the products are from a Korean brand, Mizon, purchased on Amazon. Snail mucus filtrate—also called snail slime or snail mucin—is present in most of the products as well. Snail mucin contains hyaluronic acid and antioxidants. It also stimulates the formation of collagen and elastin and helps prevent premature skin aging.

See? It may sound gross, but it’s not without benefits. If you’re current skincare routine isn’t working out for you, try an Asian beauty routine and some snail slime if you dare. Make sure to do your own research and patch test products first. Checkout the Asian Beauty subreddit, there’s a bunch of great resources on there.

Notes

  • I almost never use my oil cleanser in the morning, but if I fell asleep with makeup on (don’t do that on purpose) or am super sweaty I’ll use it
  • If I do my PM routine at like 3 am (I tend to be a night owl), then a lot of times I don’t wash my face in the morning and sometimes the sleeping packs will keep it so moisturized that I won’t moisturize in the morning (this is good when I’m running late for work)
  • I don’t apply the creams and the sleeping packs one after another. I only put the sleeping packs on right before bed, so if I do my PM routine in the afternoon/evening I’ll use the creams but if I do it right before bed I only use the sleeping packs.
  • I don’t always use sunscreen since I avoid the sun. I’m really vitamin D deficient so I actually I need time in the sun without suncreen
  • I only use the acne creams when I need them, generally when the pimples are healing

Peace out☮ Keep those faces clean♡
